About Department

The Department was started in the year 1997 with an intake of 30. The intake was increased to 60 from the Academic year 2002-03 and further increased to 120 from the Academic Year 2008-09. Two times the Department was accredited by NBA of AICTE, New Delhi.

The department has total of 24 faculty members with 1:15 student faculty ratio. At present, the Department has one Associate Professor and 23 Assistant Professors with enough experience in the field of Biomedical, Control Systems, Signal processing. The faculty members in the department are also actively participating in research activities by presenting & publishing their work in reputed Conferences & refereed Journals.

Research grant of Rs. 54.5 Lakhs was sanctioned by TIDE for Design and Development of Frequency Modulated Hearing Aid for Elderly with Hearing Disability project during the academic year 2017-18.

The department is equipped with modernized Laboratories with state of art facilities. MODROBS grant of Rs.15.2 Lakhs was sanctioned by AICTE and the same was utilized for development of Process Control and Instrumentation Laboratory in our department.

The department conducts many events like FDPs, Workshops, Seminars, Add-on Courses, Guest /Expert Lecturers for faculty and students for their knowledge enhancement and updating their technical skills.

The Department has a separate library with good number of books. The students association AIM (Association of Instrumentation Majors) functioning in the department promotes the Technical and Soft skills for students and make them ready for employability and higher studies.

Students of the Department are getting placed in reputable companies like WIPRO, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc., through campus selection and have been excelling in competitive exams like GRE, TOEFL and GATE.

Elite companies in today’s modern era are waiting to recruit Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering graduates. This industry has great demand today with the nature of work involving exclusive designing, development, installation, equipment management, usually applied in monitoring and controlling machinery. SVEC’s Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering department was started in the year 1997 with an intake of 30, followed by an increase to 60 in 2002 and 120 in 2008. The Department is accredited by NBA of AICTE for 3 years in March 2007 and re-accredited for 2 years in October 2013.

The department is equipped with modernized Laboratories with state of art facilities with an exclusive Biomedical Instrumentation lab. The department’s students association AIM (Association of Instrumentation Majors) promotes enhancement of Technical and Soft skills in students, preparing them to readily accustom to employability. The department conducts many events like FDPs, Workshops, Seminars, Add-On Courses, Guest /Expert Lecturers for faculty and students for their knowledge enhancement and updating their technical skills. To promote the reading habit of faculty and students the department has initiated a “Reader Club”. The department has established an Automation Club for the development of student projects and for industrial institute interaction to upgrade the students of various engineering disciplines.

Vision

To become a centre of excellence in creative learning and research in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation.

Mission

  • Offer comprehensive and rigorous educational program in the domain of Electronics and Instrumentation and to prepare students ready for industry & research.
  • Design, develop and disseminate contempory curriculum with knowledge and skills in the fields of Control and Instrumentation to match the expectations of real time needs.
  • Establish an ambient and object oriented development ecosystem for a diversity of faculty and students to foster holistic development.
  • Create world class infrastructure for teaching, learning, training and research to achieve highest order of excellence in designing systems and controllers.
  • Inculcate zeal for ethics among faculty, staff and students to develop creativity and innovation with value.

 Philosophy

Electronics and Instrumentation systems play a vital role in the automated operation and monitoring of complex technical processes. Small changes in a process can have a large impact on the end result. Variations in proportions, temperature, flow, turbulence, and many other factors must be carefully and consistently controlled to produce the desired end product with a minimum of raw materials and energy. Instrumentation and Control technology is the tool that enables to keep operations running within specified limits and to set more precise limits to maximize profitability, ensure quality and safety.
