Sporting Excellence…

Sree Vidyanikethan has excellent sports and recreation facilities on campus, with dedicated facilities for Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Throwball, and various athletics.

Sports Community achieves a healthier lifestyle. While coping with the highly demanding study environment, one needs to be healthy, both emotionally and physically. As a part of this process, SVEC emphasizes the importance of sports and considers them an integral part of the curriculum.

SVEC provides the state of the art facilities with many playgrounds, stadium, indoor courts as well as a number of centres for physical education & sporting activities that help students to stay fit mentally and physically and develop a spirit of sportsmanship.

In order to encourage the students in sports activities, the Department of Physical Education conducts Intramural tournaments in various sports and games for Men and Women separately. The Department also conducts selection trials to raise University teams in various disciplines for Inter-University and other tournaments.

Department of Physical Education also feels concerned about the health and fitness of SVEC employees and organizes different sports events and tournaments for them every year.

The main objective is to inculcate sports consciousness, encourage skill development, provide recreation, and promote the values of integrity among the Students.

Students participate regularly in Inter-Collegiate, Inter-University, and State Level Tournaments and win laurels for SVEC.

The Department conducts the games and sports activities in the following disciplines.

HOUSING

The housing space is logically and smartly designed denoting the letter BABU M, the name of the college’s founder chairman. The college hosts six housing blocks accommodating 100 students in each. Each block is divided into 10-15 dormitories, which can accommodate 8-12 students in each. The dormitories are spacious and well-ventilated, with neatly maintained washrooms, giving the space a homely ambience.

Every nook and corner of the campus is under 24 hour surveillance 40 well-trained security guards, who are mostly ex-service men who give utmost importance to discipline, security and safety. The campus is fully equipped with necessary technicalities to ensure 24 hour power supply. The campus houses a tuck shop that sells toiletries, stationary, light snacks and confectionery for students to readily buy anything that they would need.

DINING SERVICES

SVEC’s dining halls are a natural focus of social life with meals of all types spread on a bigger scale. The spacious yet stupendous dining spaces are capable of accommodating 900 students at once. Moreover, the food served is tasty, nutrition-rich and hygienic, offering a choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian menu. The kitchen is equipped with modern cooking gadgets and is hygienically maintained. The in-house mineral water plant supplies fresh bacteria free drinking water to hostel, cafeteria, and class rooms round the clock.

LIBRARY

The Central library has been established with state-of-the-art infrastructure to the International Standards, spread over Ground + Two floors with built-in area of 4500 Sq. M. It is provided with central air-conditioning system, fire alarm, CCTV, and RFID book security system. Reference and textbooks of national and international authors, International and national Journals & Non-book materials are available to cater to various fields of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences. The library has a collection of 1,27,465 volumes of books, 18,720 titles, 1258 back volumes, 2988 CDs and DVDs. The Central Library subscribes to National & International Print Journals and to more than 2929 e-Journals. The subscribed e-resources include IEEE with POP, ASCE and ASME Journals. Within Central Library, a Digital library is also provided for classroom teaching through NPTEL video courses in the different fields of education.

LIBRARY APPLICATION

The Central Computing Facility (CCF) at the Institute has a large computing resource that meets the computing requirements of Staff, Students and the Faculty. CCF provides highspeed LAN connection for over 2500 systems in the campus with 1 Gbps to each end user. CCF maintains 20 Servers of various functionalities along with Dell SAN and NAS devices in a centralized Server room. Server room has 10Gig LAN connection to every department and Lab in the campus through Fibre Optic backbone. CCF is responsible in providing DHCP/DNS service, Internet access through a highly secured Firewall and safeguarding the systems against Malware attacks and monitoring unauthorized access to the college Data. Firewall is a Unified threat management high performance device from SOPHOS and it carefully monitors entire data traffic from the campus to the Internet and vice-versa.  High level of data security is guaranteed. CCF has 24×7 power backup.

The institution provides bus services for faculty and students coming from different parts of the Tirupati city. Bus facility can be availed annually by submitting a request to the SAO in the Administrative block.

The institution houses a cafeteria equipped with televisions for students, staff and parents to relax while dining. The cafeteria features diverse dining options, ranging from traditional South Indian, North Indian and even Nepalese with wide range breakfast items and meals. In addition, chinese items, snacks, bakery items, beverages are served. Students can reserve space for celebrations. The cafeteria serves from 7.00 AM to 8.00 PM.

The Union Bank, the erstwhile Andhra Bank, is in place, along with ATM facility, serving the banking needs of students, staff, parents and nearby public. All kinds of financial transactions can be done in this branch named “Sree Vidyaniketan Engg Coll” with IFSC Code ANDB0001540 and MICR Code 517011007.

The Institute and it’s associated hostels are fully Wifi enabled. Besides Wifi, the institute also provides high speed LAN connectivity for all the systems and Labs. Students and guests can enjoy access to a safe and secured high speed Internet at all times.  Across the campus, there are over 180 Wifi devices and 200 highspeed managed Switches providing network connectivity from Cisco Systems.

The Institute has a dedicated 2Gbps of highspeed 1:1 leased line through the Fibre network in redundant topology. Wifi network devices are installed all across campus and provides uninterrupted Internet access at all times. College uses RUCKUS solution with Ruckus Wireless Controller managing the Access Points remotely. Since the Wifi traffic is monitored through the Firewall, data integrity is ensured. Institutes wired and wireless Network is used for the teaching-learning process and for all Administrative works.  Students can use this facility to attend classes and browse recorded videos available on our Intranet Server and over Internet pertaining to their areas of interest.

Laying emphasis on field physical activities like Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Volley ball, and Football, alongside academics, students are encouraged actively take part in sports and other cultural activities at SVEC. Able players are given encouragement to compete at the highest level under the guidance of expert coaches. It is great to see that our students have competed in state and national levels.

HEALTH & SAFETY

SVEC’s motto is to offer safe, well-defined education and outstanding healthcare to the students. The college hosts a 24hrs medical facility with two qualified staff nurses with a General Physician who regularly visits the campus. The college believes that healthy students create a healthy and a pleasant atmosphere. All safety devices are available on the Campus at the time of emergency. The campus hosts a Student Health Center and the institution shall soon launch Student health Insurance, for the betterment of the pupils.
