GENESIS

The Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a Post Graduate degree program established in the year 1998 with an intake of 30 students, affiliated to SV University, Tirupati. Later the intake increased to 60, affiliated to JNTUH and subsequently to JNTUA University from 2001 to till date. Besides admission, under lateral entry scheme 2 year MCL program is introduced from 2018. Currently the duration of the Program is 2 years spanning over four semesters from the Academic Year 2020-2021 with an intake of 60.

 GENESIS

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a post graduate program duly approved by the AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to JNTUA, Ananthapuramu. The duration of the Program is two years spanning over four semesters. The last semester of the program is exclusively reserved for project work. MCA was established in the year 1998 by Padma Shri Awardee Dr. M. Mohan Babu who is a renowned movie artiste, producer and former Member of Parliament (RS). The Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College was accredited by NAAC(A Grade).

The Department of MCA has grown in its size and stature over the years to create motivated, innovative, creative and thinking graduates to fill the roles of software Engineers who can conceptualize, analyze, design and implement computer software to meet the modern-day industry requirements. The program is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Computer Applications. The MCA program is inclined more toward application development and thus has more emphasis on the latest programming languages and tools to develop better and faster applications.

The department is well equipped with qualified and experienced faculty, computer laboratories and Internet facilities. A team of experienced members of faculty are dedicated to teaching and developing academic activities in the department. The department received academic autonomy in the year 2010. It believes in academic excellence through value based education, which is conducive to boost the inherent capabilities and confidence of the students to take up the challenges in the cutting edge global scenario.

The Department is headed by Dr. K. Suneetha, she has more than two decades of teaching and research experience and published 36 research articles in reputed National/International Journals and Conferences. She has successfully completed University Grants Commission Minor Research Project and received a grant of Rs. 9.63 lakhs towards AICTE Modernization and Removal of Obsolescence – Rural for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Cloud Laboratory (AIMLC). Her area of expertise is Machine Learning and Data Analytics.

K.SUNEETHA M.C.A, Ph.D. 
Head of the Department

Dr. K. Suneetha is working as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Master of Computer Applications since 2003. She completed her Bachelors degree and MCA from Sri Venkateswara university, Tirupati and Ph.D in Computer Science at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (Women’s University), Tirupati. She has published and presented 36 papers at National/International Conferences/Journals among which SIX papers were indexed by SCOPUS. She has an extensive experience of 20+ years of Teaching Experience and worked in various capacities from Lecturer to Associate Professor. She ratified as Assistant Professor by the JNTU Selection Committee Hyderabad in the department of MCA in SVEC, 2006.

Dr. K. Suneetha

She acted as a Technical Chair for International Conference on Machine Learning and Data Analytics, Program Committee member, chaired several International conferences and resource person for National Conferences. As a Principal Investigator she received a grant of Rs. 9.63 lakhs towards AICTE Modernization and Removal of Obsolescence – Rural for ” Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Cloud Laboratory (AIMLC)” for the Academic Year 2019-20 and successfully completed University Grants Commission Minor Research Project on 2017. She is a member of Advisory committee, Board of Studies and Examiner for PhD Comprehensive viva-Voce Examination in various institutions. She is a member of various Professional bodies like ISTE, IACSIT, ISCA and IAENG.

Department Philosophy

The Department of Master of Computer Application intrinsically purveys the students with an opportunity to develop computer applications software’s for progressing careers in software industry, corporate sector as wel, focusing on the core and emerging application areas of the domain.

The Programme’s thrust is to accord the students an intensive upbringing in core and skill-oriented courses compatable with the knowledge areas of the emerging computer software application development for real time applications and societal issues. It also emphasizes on developing applications adapting software technology to solve mathematical, computing, networking and managerial problems.

About Association

The Intellectual Master’s Association of Computers (IMAC) is a Technical Association of the Department of Master of Computer Applications.

IMAC was started in the year 2005 from there onwards under IMAC Association we conducted various Co-curricular & Extra-curricular Events to develop all sorts of skills in students and mould them into perfect professionals. With these kinds of Events, all the students will get benefited.

Vision

To create a center of excellence for the students, to prepare them to be industry-ready and achieve academic excellence.

Mission

  • To promote a constant relation and to act as a forum for exchange of information among its members.
  • To develop teamwork and leadership skills among students through activities and events for enhancing their career prospects in Industry and Research.
  • To provide opportunities for students to exercise their knowledge and skills to develop software applications.
  • To encourage specialized skills among students for career development and life- long learning.

Objectives

After successful participation in the IMAC Students’ Technical Forum, the graduates of MCA would have:

  • Established themselves as effective professionals by solving realtime problems through the use of Computer Science knowledge and also to improve team work, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated their ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment by having learned and applied new skills and new technologies.
  • Provided with an educational foundation that prepares them for excellence, leadership roles along diverse career paths with encouragement to professional ethics and active participation needed for a successful career.

Outcomes

Through the events and activities undertaken by the IMAC, the students gain exposure to:

  1. Apply knowledge of computing, mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and design of computer-based systems to real-time problems. Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing and real-time practice.
  2. Design and develop applications, as well as to analyse and interpret data.
  3. Implement and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, health and safety and manufacturability and sustainability.
  4. Function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and obtain Knowledge and understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and contemporary issues.
  5. Recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in continuing professional development and life-long learning.
