Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE)

DEPARTMENT PROFILE

The department of Diploma in Civil Engineering was established in the year 2012 with an intake of 60, followed by an increase to 120 in the year 2013. DCE is a skill empower programme, to enable the students to keep pace with changing technological advances and the students actually learn by doing and progress from basics to higher order skills like planning, designing and maintaining small and large structures. Diploma graduates can start empire-building ventures or can pursue higher studies in national premier institutions.

Programs

The Diploma in Civil Engineering deals with design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, inclusive of works like roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings. During the course of study, students are exposed to various courses of Civil Engineering such as Planning, Drafting (both manual and computer -aided), Surveying, Estimation & Costing, Construction Technology, Bridges, Airports, and Tunnel and Harbor Engineering. This programme also offers adequate exposure to Reinforced Concrete Structures, Quality Control, Study of soils, Material Testing, Construction Management & Entrepreneurship, Professional Practice and Office Procedures. Students also get a feel of Extensive Survey, Building Drawing, Irrigation & Bridge Drawing and Structural Engineering Drawing and also get exposed to software like AUTOCAD & STAAD. By the end of the programme student will be able to find job opportunity in industrial sector or opt for higher studies.
